Kickstarter is a launchpad for creators to raise funds for the initial production of their invention. Backers (that’s you!) can support the creator by pre-ordering the product at a discounted price.

What does it mean to back a project (pledge)?
When you back a project, you’re pre-ordering the product. That means you’ll get it once it’s produced. Besides getting the product itself, you’re also joining a community. Follow along the production process, take part in important surveys and give the creator valuable feedback.

How do I pledge?
In order to pledge, click that green button that says “Back this project”. You’ll get to select your shipping country and choose your desired pledge level and reward.

When is my money collected?
Your money will be collected only after the project ends on May 12 2023 10:00 AM CST. If the project is cancelled for any reason, you won’t be charged.

What payment methods can I use?
You can use any debit or credit card associated with Visa, Mastercard or American Express, as well as Discover and JCB cards. Kickstarter does not accept payments with PayPal.

When will I get my pre-order?
Meticulous Espresso is set to ship in December. Please note that this is an estimate, as you’re pre-ordering the product and production or shipping delays could arise.

How does Meticulous Espresso work?
Meticulous works similarly to a manual lever machine, but it is completely robotic. It has a powerful digital motor and ten high-precision sensors that measure flow, pressure and temperature during the extraction, and makes adjustments in real time to achieve a great cup of espresso every single time. All those parameters are also completely customizable so you can experiment with it until you get the flavor just right according to your own taste.

Is Meticulous Espresso easy to use?
Meticulous Espresso is designed to be as easy or as complex as you wish. Just select one of our classic espresso presets, press the start button, and the machine knows exactly what to do to make you a beautiful, delicious shot without any fuss. Or go full nerd and control absolutely every variable of the brewing process, even create custom pressure and flow curves and control algorithms through the Meticulous app.

Can I clean Meticulous Espresso easily?
Yes, Meticulous Espresso can be quickly cleaned by just wiping it down after every use. The drip tray is removable so you can easily rinse it whenever you need to. Since it doesn’t have a water reservoir, you make each espresso with clean, fresh water every time without ever worrying about cleaning a dirty tank in order to make your coffee.

If it doesn’t have a water tank, where does the machine get the water from?
You pour a single dose of fresh water directly into the water cylinder every time you make your espresso.

Do I have to pour hot water?
You can but you don’t have to. The water cylinder has a heating element that brings room-temp water to brew temperature in about three minutes. But you can also pre-heat the water with a kettle to speed up the process.

How much water does the cylinder hold?
It currently has a 120 ml capacity that yields around 90 ml. After many of you requested it, we are working to make the production version have 150 ml capacity for 120 ml output yield.

Can I cover the water cylinder to avoid dust or bugs from getting inside?
Yes, the machine will include a removable magnetic cap that keeps the water isolated from the outside.

What kind of coffee can I use with Meticulous Espresso?
You can use any type of coffee as long as it’s ground for espresso.

Does the Meticulous Espresso grind the coffee beans?
No. You will need to get a separate grinder and grind your beans before using Meticulous Espresso.

What are the machine’s dimensions?
The current prototype is 43cm/16.9” high, 25cm/9.8” wide and 25cm/9.8” deep. It weighs roughly ~13.6Kg/30lbs. We are currently on the last design review, so these dimensions might vary slightly from the final production version.

No. The app provides extended functionality but you can make espresso, personalize parameters, and select saved presets directly from the machine’s interface.

All Meticulous Espresso orders come with the espresso machine, an Acaia x Meticulous high precision scale, a 58 mm portafilter with a 18gram basket, a power cable, a tablet holder, a magnetic water cylinder cap, and a 5 ml Lotus water vial that you can use to mineralize 1 gallon of water and improve the flavor of your shots. Are the machine’s materials food safe?
Yes the machine is food safe. The internal structure is made from corrosion resistant steel. Everything that touches the water directly is stainless steel.

Is the machine easy to repair?
Meticulous has very few parts compared to traditional espresso machines, and it has mostly off the shelf components so they are very easy to source and replace in case you ever need to.

We are working with fulfillment experts to figure out the best way to ship the units to every country in a convenient non-expensive way for everyone. What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
